Since the introduction of digital lighting into film, television, and photography, color rendering has been an issue. The inherently discontinuous light spectra of traditional LED sources has made it difficult for a digital light to approach the color rendering quality of a black-body radiator like a tungsten filament. The TruColor® lighting fixtures from Cineo Lighting utilize the latest advancement in lighting science, Remote Phosphor Technology (RPT), to eliminate those color-accuracy issues.
Instead of relying on LEDs as a source of illumination, TruColor fixtures rely on a separate phosphor substrate to emit high quality predictable light when excited by high frequency wavelengths like blue LEDs. The result is a continuous linear spectrum unlike any other digital light developed for image capture.
Features of Remote Phosphor Technology (RPT)
• Optimized output for film, video and still photography
• Interchangeable CCT for maximum flexibility

The Line-Up of Lights from Cineo and Bolt Productions
TruColor HS™ from Cineo Lighting delivers an unprecedented volume of soft light optimized for image capture, as well as other applications that demand accurate color rendering. By harnessing Remote Phosphor Technology (RPT), the TruColor HS significantly exceeds the output of a traditional 2K incandescent soft light, typically using less than 500 watts of AC power. Several units can be plugged into a single 15 amp circuit avoiding the added cost of generators, fuel, and heavy cables. Operating temperatures are also significantly reduced, producing virtually no heat in the illuminated area. Available accessories include gel frame, louvers, eggcrates, barn doors, snap grid, and softbox.
The baby brother to the HS, the TruColor™ LS delivers an unprecedented volume of soft light optimized for image capture, as well as other applications that demand accurate color rendering. The TruColor™ LS exceeds the output of a traditional 1K incandescent soft light using less than 150 watts of AC power and up to 10 units can be powered from a single 15 amp circuit. Available accessories include gel frame, louvers, eggcrates, barn doors, snap grid, and softbox.
Cineo Maverick™ is the long-awaited portable member the TruColor family from Cineo Lighting. This evolutionary fixture provides all of the benefits of Remote Phosphor Technology found in the TruColor HS™ and LS™, while better meeting the demands of field use: Lightweight, DC powered and Weatherproof (shown above), Cineo Maverick™ delivers avolume of light equal to a traditional 1K soft source, optimized for image capture as well as other applications that demand accurate color rendering.
Cineo Lighting andLitegear™ have teamed up to develop the Matchstix™ series of small, versatile Remote Phosphor light sources. Only 35mm wide, Matchstix™ lights are available in 3”, 6” and 12” lengths and are surprisingly bright for their size. Available in all Cineo color temperatures, their color quality perfectly matches all other Cineo softlights. The back side of all Matchstix includes a standard cold-shoe slot for limitless mounting options virtually anywhere.
A few examples where Matchstix are the ideal small lighting source:
• On-camera for a soft keylight
• Inconspicuous uplighting for TV newsdesks
• Perfect for teleprompters and steadycam use
• Lighting for shooting automobile interiors
• Perfect for tabletop photography
Foton 2 Studio lighting System from Cineo Lighting
The re-designed Foton2 Studio lampheads are small, PAR-style fixtures with twice the output of the original Foton, now available with DMX control in both Tungsten and Daylight balanced color. The output of Foton2 is comparable to a 200- watt tungsten fixture, yet each fixture typically consumes only 35 watts with no U/V and IR emissions in the beam. The beam angle can be varied from 20° to 60° by changing reflectors in the bayonet-style reflector barrel and can be fitted with accessories such as barn doors and gel frames. Foton2 Studio lampheads are powered using the new Studio Hub, which provides power and DMX control for 1-4 fixtures at distances up to 100’ (30m).
